The 2016 BBC Music Awards held on the 12th of December at ExCeL London, with singer Adele the big winner on the night.

Despite the fact that her last album, 25, was released over a year ago, it won her the night’s major awards, including Album of The Year and Song Of The Year. She was unable to attend the event because she was on tour, but sent a message through Robbie Williams.

“I’m so sorry I’m not there,” she said in the message from Los Angeles. “It’s been a long year on the road and this makes me feel a little less homesick.”

The night’s other big award, Artiste of the Year, went to band Coldplay, who were unavailable to attend as they were performing in Australia.

“Sorry we’re not there,” said lead singer Chris Martin, in a video message from Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium. “Look at all those people – and we love you and we’re so grateful and we’ll see you so soon.”
