A court has deemed Nick Gordon “legally responsible” for the death of girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown, and ordered him to pay $36 million to her family.

The ruling was made by Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford, after Gordon had failed to appear in court to defend himself against the suit filed by Brown’s family.

The total sum consisted of the following parts:

$1.575 million for money taken from the account, including alleged stolen rings
$250,000 in punitive damages
$1.37 million for assault and battery
$13.8 million for pain and suffering as a result of assault
$4.2 million in punitive damages
$15 million for present value of life

Bobbi Kristina had been found unconscious in a bathtub in her home with Gordon, and had remained in a coma till she died. He certainly doesn’t have $36 million lying around, but the ruling states he’d have to give up any future earnings to her estate.

“I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings,” Bobbi’s father, singer Bobby Brown said. “I do know that Mr. Gordon will be unable to slander my daughter’s name in the future or obtain any benefits from the use of Krissy’s name.”

“The delay in that matter is of great concern to me and my family,” the singer said about Gordon not yet being criminally charged. “We need for District Attorney Howard to act now.”
