The lead singer of popular rock band Linkin Park, Chester Bennington committed suicide on July 20th, 2017. He was aged 41.

Bennington hanged himself at a Palos Verdes Estates residence in L.A. County, according to TMZ. His body was reportedly found shortly after 9am.

His death was confirmed to Billboard by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

His suicide comes on the would-be birthday of his close friend Chris Cornell, who also committed suicide in May.

Bennington struggled with drug and alcohol addictions at various times during his life. He was married and is survived by six children.
