Ooni of Ife marks one year atop throne
The most powerful king in Yoruba land, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has celebrated one year on the throne.
Oba Ogunwusi had ascended the throne of the 7th of December, 2015. He became the 51st Ooni of Ife, succeeding the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who died on the 28th of July, 2015.
The 42-year old monarch has shown to be a forward-thinking king, as he has taken steps to improve Ile-Ife, launching numerous projects to bolster tourism and create wealth for the citizens. He has been seen with popular entertainment stars like King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall 1, Bukky Wright and rapper Olamide.
One of his major achievements in his short time as king is the erection of a statue in honor of the heroine Moremi. The statue is the tallest in Nigeria, and the 3rd tallest in Africa.
