A film is being made about the life of American astronaut Neil Armstrong, popularly known as the first man to step on the moon.

He will be played by actor Ryan Gosling in the movie, which will begin shooting next year. The movie will be directed by Damien Chazelle, reuniting him with his La La Land star, Gosling.

This is exciting news for movie lovers, as La La Land is currently nominated in 7 categories at the 2017 Golden Globes.

The movie will be based on James Hansen’s biography, First Man: A Life Of Neil A. Armstrong. The movie will be penned by Spotlight writer, Josh Singer.

Ohio-born Armstrong was initially a member of the Navy, before joining NASA in 1958.

He made history on the 21st of July, 1969, when he became the first human ever to step on the moon. He died from complications after heart surgery in 2012 at the age of 82.
