Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has been named in BBC’s 100 Most Inspirational and Innovative Women of 2017.

The BBC described her thus: “Singer, songwriter and philanthropist Tiwa Savage is an intergral member of the Afrobeats scene and plans to open a music school.”

The annual series – which shines a light on issues affecting women all over the world – is this year encouraging women to make a change.

Other Africans on the list include Adelle Onyango (Kenya) Anita Nderu (Kenya) Chaima Lahsini (Morroco), Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (Liberia), Marieme Jamme (Senegal), Naomi Mwaura (Kenya) and Talent Jumo (Zimbabwe).
