Gambia’s president-elect Adama Barrow is in mourning following the death of his son, Habibou Barrow.
Habibou died on the way to the hospital in Manjai Kunda after being bitten by a dog on Sunday, January 15. He was 8 years old.
Adama Barrow is currently in Senegal for safety reasons, after current president Yahya Jammeh had refused to step down.
His inauguration is scheduled to hold on Thursday, and was advised to remain in Senegal by the Economic Community of West African States.
Barrow’s media team told media on Monday: “Yes, Habitou Barrow passed away last night after being bitten by a dog. He was the 8 years old son of Adama Barrow’s second wife. He will be laid to rest today at 2 pm.”
Barrow is married to two wives, and had 5 children.
