Michael Phelps has beaten every human he’s raced against in water, and now he’s going after one of the habitat’s fastest: a Great White Shark.

The exhibition race is for Discovery Channel’s much beloved Shark Week, and will take place on the 23rd of July.

The press release for the event reads: “They are one of the fastest and most efficient predators on the planet: Sharks. He is our greatest champion to ever get in the water: Michael Phelps. 39 world records. 23 Olympic golds. But he has one competition left to win. An event so monumental no one has ever attempted it before. The world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator: Phelps V Shark – the race is on!”

A Great White Shark swims at about 25 mph, some way ahead of Phelps 6 mph, which ESPN recorded him at in 2010. But if anyone can conquer the waters, it’s certainly Mr. Phelps.
