A memorial service was held for late Nollywood actress Moji Olaiya on the 6th of June, 2017 at the LTV Blue Roof event centre.
The opening speech was given by actress Foluke Daramola, who spoke on behalf of the organizing committee.
“I remember I introduced Moji to acting. We thank you all for your support and I pray we all would not experience such in our lives again,” she said.
Her daughter, Adunoluwa Farombi, was one of the people to speak at the memorial. She described her late mum as the “most hardworking person ever.”
She said through tears: “I don’t know what to say. She was the best mum. She was very gentle, she doesn’t get angry, she’s the most hardworking person I know. Even if she’s going through the most difficult things, she won’t cry.”
She added: “I just feel that she’s in a much better place. I just give glory to God because I know she’s resting. I just thank God.”
A number of acts in the entertainment industry, including Toyin Aimakhu, Lepa Shandy, Oga Bello, Pasuma, Artquake, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Adeniyi Johnson,Salawa Abeni, Fathia Balogun, Ogogo, Kehinde Bankole, Peju Ogunmola and more also paid their tributes.
Actress Lepa Shandy added: “Let’s just thank God for her life. A life well spent. Moji has left us but we are still here, let’s thank God for our life.”
Olaiya is to be buried today, June 7, 2017, at the Ebony Vault, Ikoyi Cemetery.
She died on Wednesday, May 17, from cardiac arrest, two months after giving birth to a baby girl.
Moji is survived by two daughters, Adunoluwa Farombi and her two-month-old baby, Maryam Odutola.
