Amidst ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in the country, South Africa has deported 97 Nigerians for criminal offenses.

The South African government has blamed the crimes of the illegal immigrants in the country for the xenophobic attacks, and has begun deporting them out of the country.

The 97 Nigerians arrived in Lagos on Monday night from Johannesburg, with the party made up of 95 men and 2 women.

Six of the deportees were being held for drug-related offenses, and were being turned over to the Nigerian Police Force.
