Ronaldo has denied similar accusations in the past, saying that he has nothing to hide.

On this occasion he is accused of knowingly using a “business structure” to hide income made from his image rights.

Ronaldo earned $93m (£72m) from salary, bonuses and endorsements last year, making him the highest-paid sports person in the world for the second year running.
