FC Ifeanyi Ubah have won the 2016 Federation Cup after defeating Nassarawa United.
It was the first appearance in the finals for either side, and the Anambra Warriors needed penalties to win the match, after a goalless 120 minutes of football. The shootout ended 5-4, with FCIU keeper Uche Okafor saving a penalty to give them the winning edge.
The Minister of Sport, Solomon Dalung, Nigerian Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick, and FC Ifeanyi Ubah owner, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah were among a number of personalities present for the game, which held at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
Its the first ever trophy for the club, which came into existence in 2015 after Dr. Ubah acquired Gabros International FC. The win also guarantees them a spot in next season’s CAF Confederations Cup.

In the final of the female’s cup, Rivers Angels lifted the trophy after defeating Bayelsa Queens in a penalty shootout.
