Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin is set to extend his stay at the club after signing a new 6-year deal, keeping him at the club till 2022.

According to the new deal, Bellerin will earn over a hundred thousand pounds weekly, with numerous bonuses and add-ons included.

The 21-year old had put in some quality performances for the Gunners over the past two seasons, and was named in the PFA Team of the Season last year. This had drawn the interest of former club Barcelona and oil-rich Manchester City.

A statement on the Gunners website confirmed: “Hector Bellerin has signed a new long-term contract.

“The 21-year-old has developed into one of the Premier League’s outstanding full-backs since breaking into the first team in 2014/15. We look forward to Hector’s continued progress with the club in the years to come.”

According to Standard Sport, manager Arsene Wenger was not fully in support of giving Bellerin a new contract, considering he still had 3 years to go on his old one. His attentions were focused on star players Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who both have less than 2 years on their contracts.

The contract situations of both players is yet unknown, as they are said to be requesting wages of well over £200,000-a-week.
