Pastor Enoch Adejare Adebayo has surprisingly announced his retirement from the position of General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
The shocking announcement came with the revelation of his successor. Pa Adeboye is said to have chosen a member of the church governing’s council, Pastor J.O. Obayemi as his successor.

There had reportedly been unrest in the church over Adeboye’s advancing age, but as general overseer, he had the option to retire when he wanted. His retirement is expected to take place before his 75th birthday in March.
He had joined the church in 1973, and was appointed General Overseer in 1981 after the death of the church’s founder, Reverend Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi.
The former Special Assistant on Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, was appointed as the church’s secretary.
