Sarkodie refused to perform at the recent One Africa Music Fest in Dubai, and details have emerged as to why.
The superstar Ghanaian rapper landed in the United Arab Emirates capital with his team on Wednesday, and were present at the pre-event party that evening.
He even went for soundcheck on Thursday evening, but hours later, tweeted: “Sorry to fans in Dubai but I’m not performing… hopefully I make it next time … 🙏🏾”
According to reports, Sarkodie’s decision came after he was displaced from his slot twice by Nigerian superstars Wizkid and Davido.
The Adonai rapper was scheduled to perform after Mavin Records singer Tiwa Savage, but was told to wait after Wizkid, who joined her on stage, began his set.
He was reportedly told that he’d perform after Tekno, but was once again pushed to the side to allow Davido, who also joined him on stage, perform.
He then made his decision to not perform, with his DJ, DJ Mensah tweeting: “Total disrespect-one africa and we can’t even live up to the Name.”
Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale added: “@sarkodie doesnt listen ,its high time u respect your brand bro …they using u too much …dont vex for the truth ..Respek💪🏿🇬🇭”
Sarkodie replied him saying: “Nobody plays with my brand and that be why we no step on that stage … I just feel for the fans that b why I tweet.”
