Showtime has announced that it will be renewing hit series Billions for a third season.

The show is currently 3 episodes into its second season, and the powers at Showtime have been impressed enough to order the show for a third season.

Billions continues to be a show on the rise, growing not only in audience, but in critical buzz and cultural relevance,” Showtime president David Nevins said.

“It offers a unique mix of pure entertainment with sly commentary on our current have/have-not economy. Season 2 is off to a tremendous start, and has only whetted our audience’s appetite for what will come in Season 3.”

Billions stars Paul Giamatti as U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and Damian Lewis as billionaire hedge fund king Bobby Axelrod. The two men face off as their very different worldviews clash, and Rhoades must try to get the edge on Axelrod using the powers of the law.

Unfortunately, money, power, and sex are powerful tools, and it’s hard to gauge at any given point which of the men will come out on top. In Season 2, they’re being forced to adapt in a world that is fluctuating around them. If they want to stay on top in their respective fields, they need to change.

The cast is rounded out by Maggie Siff and Malin Åkerman, who play Dr. Wendy Rhoades and Lara Axelrod, respectively.
