A first trailer has been released for upcoming musical The Greatest Showman, starring Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron.
The movie is a biopic about P.T. Barnum, founder of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. It also stars Michelle Williams, Rebecca Ferguson and Zendaya.
The trailer follows Barnum as he pursues his dream of building a circus after losing his desk job. He tells a potential performer the point of his show is that “every one of us is special — and nobody is like anyone else.”
The Greatest Showman is directed by Australian commercial director and visual effects coordinator Michael Gracey, and will be his feature-length debut.
“We were clear from the beginning that this wouldn’t feel like a period movie or a historical piece,” Jackman said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly published in May.
“What would Barnum do now? I have an almost-12-year-old daughter. I wanted [the film] to be as exciting for her as listening to Katy Perry’s new song,” the actor added.
The Greatest Showman opens in theaters Dec. 25. Watch the trailer below.
