Despite his recurring health issues, the Presidency has revealed that President Muhammad Buhari will be well enough to contest in 2019.
The declaration was made by Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Alhaji Abdulrahman Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila, while speaking with journalists.
Sumaila added that there have been concerns about Buhari’s health as far back as 2003, and that only doctors could tell him if he was not fit enough to contest.
“I am confident that President Buhari will recover and continue to steer the affairs of this country to complete his first tenure and re-contest for the second one in 2019,” he said.
He also responded to rumors that former Kano state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso would be vying for the presidency in 2019.
“Kwankwaso has contested alongside Buhari in the 2015 presidential election and he had seen the consequences of his action. So, let him try it again,” he said.
