The 2017 Nigerian University Games Association games ended on a sad note with the death of a student from the University of Benin.
The competition was hosted this year by the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM).
The incident was reportedly confirmed by Dr Omeche Onoja, Chairman, NUGA games medical and sanitation sub committee.
The student had reportedly gone to the popular River Benue to swim, and had drowned in the process. Onoja added that his corpse had been deposited at the Madonna Hospital in Makurdi.
” We had a distress call from some students of the situation but on reaching the river, we found the lifeless body of the student, who has been identified by his colleagues. He was said to have participated in some games. “The whole incident could have been avoided,” she said.
