Former Super Eagles star Brown Ideye has joined Spanish side Malaga on loan for the rest of the season.

Ideye, who plays for Chinese side Tianjin TEDA, joins the La Liga side to increase his chances of returning to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“Brown Ideye is on loan to Málaga CF for the remainder of the season, from Chinese outfit, Tianjin Teda,” the statement reads on the club website.

“The striker successfully passed the relevant medical examination at Vithas Salud Rincón Medical Center Rosaleda.”

He scored 4 goals in 14 league games in his debut season for Tianjin, where he signed for after scoring 23 goals in 44 appearances in two seasons for Olympiacos.

He wrote on his Instagram after the move: “So happy to have signed for @malagacf on loan in one of the biggest leagues in the world, i enjoyed my time at @tianjinteda and i want to thank the management and fans. Now onto a new chapter of La Liga, Big thanks to everyone who make this possible for me I’m Grateful, i can’t wait to get started! #thankful”

Malaga are currently last in the La Liga, and will be hopeful Ideye can bring in some much needed firepower.
