Chelsea finished their match with Arsenal with 10 men as David Luiz got sent off in a tense match at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal started without two of their best players in Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who Arsene Wenger said was nursing an injury.

There were clear chances for both sides in the first half. Danny Welbeck headed wide for Arsenal and Chelsea’s Pedro was unable to take his chance when through on goal.

Arsenal created more chances later on. Alexandre Lacazette fired over from four yards after Aaron Ramsey had hit the post.

Antonio Conte made a defensive change at half-time, bringing on Tiemoue Bakayoko for Pedro. The move allowed Chelsea to gain greater solidity.

Arsenal thought they had made the breakthrough when Shkodran Mustafi headed past Thibaut Courtois, but the defender was flagged offside.

Eden Hazard was sent on as a substitute in a bid to get Chelsea going but the Blues failed to fire in attack.

Luiz was sent off late on for a foul on Sead Kolasinac.  Antonio Conte’s men however held on for a point.

It was the third successive meeting between the teams in which Chelsea had seen a man sent off. Victor Moses and Pedro Rodriguez have been dismissed in the FA Cup final and Community Shield respectively.
