The Nigerian Football Federation has promised to punish the people responsible for its latest FIFA punishment.
Nigeria was handed a 3-0 loss to Algeria for fielding Shehu Abdullahi in the match, a player who was suspended after picking two yellow cards.
The NFF was also handed a monetary fine by FIFA.
“We accept the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary C’ttee to fine the NFF and award the match to Algeria,” NFF president Amaju Pinnick said in a statement posted on Twitter.
“At the same time, I want to assure that persons responsible for this slip would not be given just a slap on the wrist. We are actually looking at a re-organization of the Technical Department.”
He added: “The Technical C’ttee will henceforth play serious superintending role on all details, no matter how minute, in technical matters. It is important that all committees and depts at the NFF should move at the same pace as the Executive C’ttee.”
