The players and staff of Nigerian Professional Football League team, Kwara United, were involved in an accident on Wednesday morning.

The accident occurred on the Ibadan end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while the team were travelling back to their base in Ilorin from Lagos where they had participated in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super Four competition which ended on Tuesday.

The team said in a statement on Twitter: “Our bus, carrying players and officials, was involved in an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Express this morning, travelling to Ilorin after the NNL Super 4. We are glad to report that no life was lost in the accident, but 3 people got injured and are receiving proper treatments.

“The three people injured are Alfred Stephen (player), Ijaya Lukman (welfare official) and a freelance cameraman. We will love to thank everyone who has sent in messages of well wishes concerning this. God bless you!”
