Seun Adigun and Akuoma Omeoga improved their times during the 1st and 2nd official bobsled heats at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The Nigerian duo finished with a time of 52.21s in Heat 1 and 52.55s  in Heat 2 as against the time of 52.96s and 53.60s recorded in Sunday’s training Heats 3 and 4.

Being Africa’s first bobsled team to qualify for this stage, nobody expected medals from them, and improvements in their time is a laudable achievement.

“We’re setting the groundwork for what to build on for the country of Nigeria and the continent of Africa,” Adigun said. “With a little time, we can be just as competitive.”

Germany’s Mariama Jamanka and Lisa Buckwitz are the leaders at the midway point, their two-run time of 1 minute, 41.26 seconds on Tuesday night putting them 0.07 seconds ahead of USA’s Meyers Taylor and Lauren Gibbs.
