Robinho has been sentenced to a nine-year jail term for sexual assault, reports in Italy confirm.

The incident happened in 2013, while Robinho played for Serie A side, AC Milan. He was found guilty alongside 4 other men of assaulting a 22-year old woman at a club in Milan.

The former Manchester City and Real Madrid star currently plays for Atletico Miniero in Brazil.

He has the right to appeal the decision, and will only go to jail if the appeal is unsuccessful. If he loses the appeal, he could be extradited to Italy.

He was also accused of sexual assault in 2009 while at Manchester City, but was cleared of all charges.
