Legendary Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez has been honored with a statue in his home city of Tocopilla.
Sanchez led Chile to back to back Copa America wins in 2015 and 2016, and has scored 36 goals in 106 appearances for the country.
Beside the statue are the logos of the clubs he’s played for, including Udinese, Barcelona and current club Arsenal.
The America Cup, which he won in 2015, stands in front of the statue.
His future at Arsenal is currently unknown, amidst reports that has refused to sign a new contract over the club’s failure to compete for silverware.
Sanchez attended the event personally, and gave a game-worn jersey to the statue’s creator, Marco Vergara.
