Nintendo officially made its comeback into the gaming console world today as it officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch console.

The Switch is the first console from Nintendo since the disappointing Wii U, and offers gamers the ability to play their favorite video games anywhere they want. It can be connected to a TV, and it can be also be taken on the road. The Switch has its own screen and a battery that is said to offer between 2.5 and 6 hours of gameplay.

The console will go on sale on the 3rd of March, and will come with a number of Nintendo favorite titles, such as Zelda, Super Mario and Mario Kart.

The Nintendo Switch will cost $300 (N108,000), a price that has been deemed by some as too high.

Nintendo president said Tatsumi Kimishima: “Nintendo Switch is a brand-new kind of home gaming system that offers a wide variety of play modes.

“We will introduce the world to new experiences made possible by the unique characteristics of the Nintendo Switch hardware and the Joy-Con.”

Investors aren’t particularly impressed however, and shares for the Kyoto-based company fell 5% after the launch.

Some of the console’s features don’t exactly inspire excitement, such as its 1280 x 720 screen.
