EA Sports have released a reveal trailer for FIFA 18, with Cristiano Ronaldo announced as the game’s cover star.

It’s the first time the Real Madrid superstar will grace the cover of the popular video game.

The Real Madrid star capped off another superb season by scoring twice in the Champions League final against Juventus, cementing his status as the early favourite for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The trailer showed video-game Ronaldo show off a couple moves, before showing real-life Ronaldo in motion-sensor gear.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi had covered the game for four years from 2013 to 2016, before replaced by Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus for FIFA 17.

Ronaldo said in a statement: “It is a real pleasure to be on the cover of FIFA 18. It’s a great feeling and I am grateful to have been chosen.”

FIFA fans can already pre-order the ‘Ronaldo Edition’ of the new game, which costs £79.99 and features up to £40-worth of Ultimate Team packs as well as a Cristiano Ronaldo loan card and exclusive kits.
